The simple answer is I wanted a way to give back to all the different communities I spend time in. Through the arts, I know many makers who are either running low on stock, so a full show is too much, or they are having a last push to get in as many shows as they can before the holidays. This market allows them to sell their products without having to be here. They can spend more time with the people they love or have more time to work on other shows. I know a lot of people who want to support small businesses and maximize how far their dollars can go locally. I wanted to bring different shopping options closer to people in the area who may not be able to get to the bigger towns. Astoria has a mission of being a community venue, and this market is one way that we can give back to the many communities we share. We are open the month of December. All proceeds go to small businesses and small creators. Your money doesn’t mean much to a big box store but it means a lot to a small business!
